People, often middle-aged men, steadily decline after a first attack. Obvious relapses or remissions are not common.

Symptoms

Progressive weakness without obvious attacks or recovery, balance issues, and problems with walking, speaking, swallowing, vision, fatigue, bladder, or bowels.
