Véronique Gauthier-Simmons was a presenter at the AMEX 2017: 7 Steps to Overcoming MS Event in Brighton on the 22nd October 2017.
Véronique started yoga in 2000, at the age of 34, when she was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS. At the time, she was addicted to the gym. She loved aerobics, steps, spinning and spent eight to ten hours per week in the gym but these intense activities made her MS symptoms worse. She decided to give yoga a try! She now knows that this was one of the best decisions she ever made.
Over the years, she studied different types of yoga with different teachers and qualified in Hatha Yoga and Yoga Therapy. Together with her husband, she created Taming the Walrus, which is dedicated to encouraging people with MS to practice yoga. She now lives in Surrey and teaches one-to-one and online yoga to people with MS and other neurological conditions. Her motto is ‘Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and think of what could go right!’
Véronique presented two yoga sessions and an exercise presentation at the AMEX 2017: 7 Steps to Overcoming MS Event in Brighton.
