Unfortunately the Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis website encountered a major issue on Friday evening (Australia / NZ time) and it has been necessary to do a full restore of the website and database from our back-up files. The problem was the result of a database corruption – a problem that happens occasionally with websites and software of all types. In essence this means that the information stored in the database files become unreadable. Our software support team worked through the night to resolve the issue, however when it was clear that there was no easy ‘fix’ for the problem, the restore process had to commence.

The website should now be fully up and running again, however there will be a window of time where anything added to the site (including forum posts) will have been lost. This is due to the need to restore from our last full back-up which was taken 24 hours before the problems first occurred.

The restored backup was taken from mIdnight Thursday 3 November 2011, New Zealand time. There were some very informative and important posts that members contributed after this which have now been lost. If it is at all possible it would be wonderful if those members can remember what they wrote and repost their comments.

We apologise for the inconvenience, but we can take confidence from the fact our back-up processes work effectively. If you would like any further information, please get in touch.
