Hi

Before my diagnosis I was a avid strength trainer. However after a gap of 1 year I started training again and started taking whey supplement. I noticed my symptoms started reappearing. I had been in remission for 2 years. Within 6 weeks of starting on whey supplements, my MRI showed another lesion. After reading OVMS I understand milk proteins are really bad and my experience shows this to be true. My question is, are there any protein supplements I can take? Also love cheddar cheese. Can I take goats milk cheese.

Best Regards

Hi Madmax

I think you have answered your own question.
'milk proteins are realy bad'
So NO cheese unfortunately, NO milk whether cow's or goats they are all animal milks.

It takes some time to get used to it if you are a cheese lover but I was the same and now I do not miss cheese. In fact I used to be a fan of stinky cheeses too and now I can not stand the smell at all!! :)
Hi

I would have to agree that you stop craving certain things. I loved chocolate and melted cheese on toast when in a hurry for something to eat. Now I can honestly say I do not miss either at all.

Thanks all.

I thought as much. All dairy products out!!!
I think they make soy protein supplements, but I haven't personally tried them so I'm not sure what they taste like.
First Visible Symptom: November 2016; Diagnosis: January 4, 2017; Discovered OMS: January 17, 2017.
Take a read on Rich Rolls blog, you don't need protein supplements, eat well as in eat for the energy needed for the exercise done, eat good snacks eg hummus on whole grain. Leave the tub of protein on the shelf.
Hope your symptoms quieten down again real soon.
There are several veg or legume protein powders, personally I prefer the pea protein powder.
Be well, live long and prosper!
Consuming too much prism protein even if legume and not mead is still not good on the body.
I used to be an avid weight trainer back in the day. Use to down a heap of protein shakes which probably helped to bring on my first auto immune disease. Stay well away. Dairy has to go. Whey protein shakes have to go. Following OMS should get you all the muscle building nutrients you'll ever need. Oh that and training hard!!!
