Hello,

I'm new to this forum, would like to start with a short introduction :) I'm 30 year old male from Lithuania, was diagnosed with RRMS on February this year. My primary symptoms are motor and first attack affected my both legs and both hands. Now I'm fully recovered and 100% mobile. On paper I look not so good, 34 enhancing lessons on spinal cord and more in my brain
I bought and read the book, which is great. I was relieved that something can be done by me, besides just taking REBIF. I'm on OMS diet from March and feel lucky that found this site so early. Still not tired of reading a lot about MS :D Today I went through vitamin D trials and remembered about Coimbra protocol, which I read in the hospital after dx. Did someone tried with a success? I'm somehow feel there is something in it and 99% sure that will try. Now doing all necessary tests and waiting for supplements. Also, I need to avoid calcium. Kale, potentially, could be harmful, what do you think? I eat lots of it :)

It sounds very interesting - were you able to find a doctor that will support you with the appropriate tests and follow-up?
Hi Vilnietis,

I am Dr. Coimbra's patient.

As I can see thru your post - you are from Lithuania, and the closest MDs that provides his protocol, as for as I know, are in Italy (Dr. Pellegrini and Dr. Giordi - both was in Sao Paulo in Dr. Coimbra's training programme).

I feel great, and one of the great things is that Coimbra's Protocol support quite all of the parts of Dr. Jelinek's OMS - but provides MD supervised (and that is very important) high-doses cholecalciferol treatment that is based on biological effect of calcitriol (an active form of Cholecalciferol, or Vitamin D, if you prefer) on immune system.

So - to be short - OMS is the way to "treat yourself", and Coimbra's protocol provides you with medical treatment that doesn't collide with any of OMS parts, and it puts a great deal on something that just couldn't be a part of OMS, as it is the programme that let you do the best for yourself without the convinient medical treatment - and that is the effect that cholecalciferol in very high doses have on immune system.

Dr. Jelinek's OMS programme is the best you can do for yourself, and combine it with Dr. Coimbra's protocol - I think it's something that the near future will prove is the way to treat most of autoimmune diseases.

Danijel

Thank you for replies.
My neuros don't even listen about vitamin D. They said only REBIF will help in my situation. I took drastic decision, to quit REBIF, continue with OMS (6 months on it) and start vitamin D. I hope Pellegrini will respond soon, I really want to start ASAP.
Do anyone has expierence with stopping REBIF? First week without it, I noticed strange feeling in right foot. A bit frightening, but we don't never know about MS and how it will progrees, do we? They said I have RRMS, but my lesion load is huge and I'm crazy to stop REBIF. I found this interesting study:
http://www.vitamindwiki.com/3X+more+vit ... +July+2012

CONCLUSION: In this study, we found that IFN-? therapy is associated with greater production of vitamin D from sun exposure, suggesting part of the therapeutic effects of IFN-? on relapse in MS may be through modulation of vitamin D metabolism.

Could it be that this is the only therapeutic effect on REBIF?

danijell, how are you doing with Coimbra protocol? Any improvements?
Are anyone here in forums who tried or on it with great success?

I am on Dr Coimbra's protocol and try very hard to keep calcium levels down. I like Kale too but wouldn't eat it once you are on this protocol.
The other thing I would do on the D3 protocol is to take Vitamin K2 so the body will put any calcium in the blood where it belongs. (teeth and bones) not in soft tissues like veins and arteries. You will get more than enough Calcium levels without adding anything with lots of it.

Then make sure you drink your 2.5 liters per day. Follow your doctors instructions.
danijell, gjmorse77 - how long have you been on Coimbra's protocol?

O just calculated today's nutrition data (including kale):

Calcium 772 mg 77%
Iron 18.0 mg 100%
Magnesium 508 mg 127%
Phosphorus 2049 mg 205%
Potassium 7240 mg 207%
Sodium 792 mg 33%
Zinc 9.5 mg 63%
Copper 2.2 mg 110%
Manganese ~4.8 mg ~242%
Selenium 229 mcg 327%

Probably this will be one of the topic with a doctor, seems I even could have deficiency of calcium in long run.

The OMS recommendation is to "Do Whatever It Takes" to stay well, and that includes drugs as recommended by your neurologist. Prof Jelinek has empowered us with excellent information about the available drugs, so we can make informed choices.
Cheers,

Sue

Hello,
I am interested to hear about people's experiences on this "treatment". I am starting to up my vit D doses together with K2.

Here is the link for mega doses of vit D treatment by COimbra.

Hi,

I highly recommend to try it. I am 4 months on it (1 month officially with a doctor supervision). I feel great! It's unbelievable how fast MS symptoms disappeared. Only after 4 months! Coimbra says that real improvements comes after 2 years on high vitamin D doses. So I have 1.5 year still, but not sure what improvements I can expect as I'm 100% feel normal.
On February EDSS = 3.5 (on onset)
EDSS after hosptial 2.5
Now EDSS = 0 I believe, I cannot confirm my EDSS by official report from Hospital.

My symptoms after recovring from first attack was:
1. Numb right hand in the mornings (now gone)
2. Pain in the ears from time to time (now gone)
3. Heavy feeling in the right leg (now gone)
4. Fatigue in the second part of the day (now gone)
5. Short last strange headaches (now gone)
6. Urgency to urinate (now gone)
7. Weakness in hand or legs (gone)
7. All other small symptoms here and there (almost gone, yesterday I noticed strange short lasting feeling (ache I would say) in my right eye. Seems my MS is still a bit active. Not worried about it.

I'm still on OMS diet and gonna continue with it.
Important: you should gather as much info as possible about protocol before starting on your own. I do not recommend to do without doctor supervision, but I started my own 2 month trial on high vitamind D 80,000IU doses + other supplements without a doctor. VERY IMPORTANT: low calcium diet, avoiding all diary and nuts basically. I could write in more details about protocol, not sure if OMS administration will allow it. I even suggest to create separate forum place dedicated to Coimbra protocol (high doses of vitamin D). At the same time, it would be interesting to hear prof. Jelinek thoughts about Coimbra's work.

BTW, OMS diet is more strict than Coimbra's ;)

Feel very good, no signs of any symptoms and looking forward to my MRI in the summer. Also, I would like to share one video. Coimbra itself talks about the protocol, very informative video and the best part of all that everything he says about vitamin D treatment is working 100% in real life. I even think he is a bit too cautious about the vitamin D high doses. It is truly unbelievable. I just read the other day that one 51 years old serbian male started to walk again with a person help. He had MS from 1991 and was in wheelchair since 2014. After one year, he is back on his feet again. There is a document with 250 pages of testimonials from different people about vitamin D and how it turned around MS course in one facebook group. Please contact me, if you want to read it.
