Hi all,

I have recently purchased a stationary spin bike and have trouble getting my feet into the cages on the pedals. So far, I need someone to put my feet in. Not very practical as I live alone and the whole purpose is to exercise (I can't wait to do some interval training) Any suggestions? I'm going to try the shoes that clip on to the pedals.

Hi Teena Marie

Apologies if this is a stupid suggestion and these are things you have already thought of! Is lowering/moving the seat an option, putting your feet in, and then moving the seat back to the correct position? Depending on the bike, this may or may not be possible.

Another thought is going back to the place you bought it from and asking them for any suggestions, ie different types pedals you might then be able to try something out before buying it.

The shoes and pedals with clips might well be the best option, but probably good to try out first. I used to ride my bike on the road with these and they did require a bit of practice to get them quite right. Really good when your feet are clipped in though as your feet are nice and secure and don't slip off the pedals!

Hope this is helpful, do let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the suggestions. the shoes didn't work and seat adjustment won't help. I've had 2 people including a spin teacher and a personal trainer look at this but no go. I think I will try a system of straps and bungee cords. It's controlling my foot into the cage that's the issue. I'm determined so it's just a question of time and patience. In the meantime, I'm back on my treadmill so this is good.

I'll update my progress.
What about one of those long handled things that you pick up stuff with, don't know
what they are called, grips at the top you squeeze together and the piece at the bottom
squeezes together also, could you grasp your foot with it to guide it into the pedal?
Great idea-I'll try it and let you know.

Many thanks
