Hi all,

I'm not used to posting in the Exercise forum, but today I feel I've earned my stripes...

My family and I have just completed the Glasgow to Edinburgh cycle ride, which is 47 miles over some rather large hills. It was a fabulous day out. I'm not sure who I'm most proud of: my 8 year old and 11 year old for completing this on their own bikes, or me for pulling my 6 year old on the tag-along! (Edited to point out that hubby came too!)

Which kind of brings me to the point of this post. This was a big event, with thousands of people, many of whom were riding for a charity. I didn't actually see any MS charity T-shirts, but I'm sure they were there. I really would have liked to have worn something advertising OMS; something along the lines of, "I am overcoming multiple sclerosis: diet, vitamin D, meditation, exercise - there is hope!!!" followed by the website. But, needless to say, I didn't have anything like that. I am tempted to get my own T-shirt made. Or if OMS wants to design and sell their own, I'd be happy to buy. Just saying!

I didn't ask for sponsorship for this ride, because it didn't feel big enough. But my husband just did something a little more impressive: he ran 250km across Iceland, all in aid of OMS. He's raised £968 so far; I'm v proud of him!

All the best everyone with your exercise regimes. I'm planning to do a little more cycling after today...

Spectacular work Hazza and my hat is off to the whole family for joining in the fun to support you!

How good does it feel to have conquered that monster of a ride!! What a great achievement.

What about that husband of yours eh? Some may say he's slighly mad for running across the entire country of Iceland but I think he is an absolute champion for raising a nice pot of money for a great healthy cause. I'd say he's a keeper. When he gets home tell him you've found him a new challenge... to run across Australia.

Righto, I reckon it's time for you to have a bit of a rest and nice massage / pamper session to get your breath back.

Developed 5 May 2011, Diagnosed 4 Aug 2011, OMS 15 Sept 2011, Gluten-Free 22 February 2012, Recovery declaration 2 September 2014, Relapse 14 October 2019, Recovery declared again 1 November 2020.
Well done to you both. Is it possible to sponsor your husband in retrospect?
Wow, what a fabulous thing to do. And your kids- fantastic to you all :-)
Youre right about tee shirts though. I ride too and often think it would be a great to let people know, it might make them think twice about coming too close. Fell off last week, car came too close! Still love it though x
Thanks for the replies everyone. And really nice of you to think of sponsoring, Cinderella. All sponsorship of course is gladly welcome. Please don't feel you need to keep up with the level of donations received to date (my husband's friends have got into some competitive bidding - all ends up being very good for the cause)!

Gary from OMS just phoned him to say thank you, which was nice.

Hopefully there will be lots of other sponsored events. I've read about a few on this site, which is wonderful. Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a small fraction of the funds that go to other MS charities?
