The Coronavirus outbreak has seen many countries around the world put restrictions on social gatherings and therefore a number of events have been postponed or cancelled.
This has impacted charities and their fundraising activities, denying them revenues from major events such as the London Marathon plus community-based coffee mornings and sponsored challenges.
But as organisations and businesses look to adapt, there are still ways our communities can raise funds, stay active, connected and have fun.
We’ve put together some virtual events that you can do on your own, or online with friends and family. Any money that you raise will help us to continue to overcome MS now, and in the future.
Have a virtual birthday
Do you have a birthday coming up, but have everything you could wish for? Then head over to our Facebook page and set up a Birthday Fundraiser and ask your friends and family to donate to OMS instead of giving presents.
Donate your commute
If you are working from home during the pandemic, then why not donate the money you would usually spend on your train fare, petrol or even lunch to OMS? A donation, however big or small makes a big difference to our work and the OMS community. You can #DonateYourCommute here.
30 day challenge
Set yourself a challenge a day for 30 days. It could be trying to hit a daily step count, meditating everyday, or even giving something up for 30 days. Ask friends to sponsor you for completing your challenge.
Host a virtual quiz
Come dine virtually
Don’t let social-distancing come between you, your friends and good food. Why not plan an OMS dinner party and put together your favourite menu - starter, main and dessert. For inspiration why not go to the OMS recipe pages. Use Zoom, Skype or Houseparty to invite your dinner guests and ask them to make a donation in return.
Why not add some entertainment by playing some online games, such as Monopoly or scrabble, or if you are using Houseparty, use one of their game features.
Whatever you do we are extremely grateful, as always, for your support.
