Blind Panic

The Sun reached out and touched my hand this morning

The rich gold rays stretched out across the land, kissing

And caressing the peaks.

 The misty hollows waited

My eyes sought each glimpse with desperation

Fuelled by the fear of the unknown

My hand glowed with the warmth and security of sight.

Later the trees looked like a soaring bird

It’s feathers stretched out with piercing shafts of light exploding through

Drunken eyes hold these precious moments safe

For who knows what life will bring

(Poem by Tessa Jane 19th Nov 2008)

I am an Ambassador for Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis, the world’s leading multiple sclerosis healthy lifestyle charity. Although there is currently no cure for MS, we believe that people with MS can lead positive and fulfilling lives. This belief is based on substantial scientific evidence of the benefits of holistic self-care, alongside medical therapies when appropriate and I am thrilled that in its 20th year Delamore Arts has chosen the OMS charity to support. The Delamore Gardens have inspired and restored me many a time.

So, I’d like to say a big thank you to all of you and ask for your help.

How can you help?

By creating a postcard that will be auctioned secretly, with a big reveal on May 30th - World MS day.

  • Create an image (in whatever media you like) - standard post card size 6x4”or 10.5x14.8cm.
  • On the back write a little about yourself, a favourite quote or poem, contact details and sign.
  • Contact Tessa for where to send your postcard designs to.

Throughout May, whilst the exhibition and sculpture trail takes place, I am working to draw a wider community together and raise awareness by creating a programme of exciting demonstrations/meet the artist opportunities or workshops etc. I am looking for artists interested in running a small workshop, giving a talk or supporting in any way they feel able. This is completely voluntary without payment but I will be creating videos, social media posts etc. to give you greater audience exposure and you would feature in the programme.

In the meantime I’m starting to build the online audience now, and there is no better time to start than March as it is MS Awareness Month. You can join me for #MindfulMarch and #AprilAction where I am posting daily prompts. I am pledging to try and raise £10,000 for 10 years of the Overcoming MS charity. I can’t do it alone so am building awareness and inviting you to join me by following the fun and finding 10 minutes daily to join in. It is primarily on Instagram primarily on: @sw_overcomingms but you can also find activity on @tessajanedesigns too.

You can also help support Tessa's #TenforOMS fundraiser here.
