All nuts except peanuts are advocated by the OMS Recovery Program. They are a great source of protein and healthier fats, especially walnuts, which have the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acids.
When purchasing nuts, you should be aware that they may be covered or roasted in oil and plenty of salt. Raw, unroasted nuts are preferable. Brazil nuts, macadamias and cashew nuts contain more saturated fat than other nuts and thus should be consumed in smaller quantities.
