We are delighted to announce our book, Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis: An Evidence-based Guide to Recovery has been translated and published in Bulgarian!
Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis (OMS) is a charity that promotes a specific research-based lifestyle program that has been shown to be beneficial for people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The 7-Step Recovery Program, as it is known, was developed by Professor George Jelinek, who after his own diagnosis of MS, began scanning the available literature to identify ways of managing the condition. As a result, any recommendations made in the book are based on rigorous scientific research.
The 7 Steps of the Program are:
Many people with MS who follow the program have managed to stabilize their condition and reduce the severity of their symptoms.
Andrey Avramov is 43 years old from Sofia, Bulgaria and was diagnosed with MS 16 years ago. For 12 years, Andrey tried a number of different strategies for managing his MS, including interferons, Copaxone, and Mitoxantrone as well as a number of alternative therapies. Unsatisfied with the results, Andrey began following the OMS Recovery Program in 2015.
Andrey believes that by following the program, he will manage to slow the progression of the disease:
“Professor Jelinek’s book gave me the hope that it is quite possible to prevent the further progression of the disease, and from then on to rely on a gradual recovery. Two and a half years ago I started to put into practice the most important (from my point of view) parts of the OMS program. Looking back, I think my efforts were not in vain, and the only thing I’m sorry about is that I did not have the chance to read the book ten years earlier.”
The Bulgarian edition, published by KIBEA, is an important accomplishment for OMS as it is the first version of the book to be published in a language other than English.
