Women's Health and Living Well with MS

Hosted by Dr Jonathan White and Professor Helen Rees Leahy

Women are 2-3 times more likely than men to be diagnosed with MS. The reasons for this disparity are not clear, although there are a number of possibilities, including genetic factors and hormones.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and the menopause:
We also know that women’s experiences of living with MS are different from men’s: from the effects of MS on pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause, to broader questions about medical attitudes to women’s experience of illness and pain.

Who is this webinar for?
How can the OMS program best support women, and what can we learn from our lived experience of MS?

This webinar is for everyone - men as well as women, friends and family members of people living with MS.
We warmly welcome your questions and any experiences that you would like to share - before, during and after the webinar.

October 20th, 8pm BST

This webinar will take place on October 20th at 8pm BST via Zoom, you can register for the session here.

July 2021 webinar - Living Well with Progressive MS

Hosted by Helen Rees Leahy and Phil Startin

This webinar asks what is Progressive MS (PMS) and explores some of the uniqueness of PMS as well as the differences between PMS and RRMS.

As two people living with PMS, we explore the specific challenges of living well with a progressive condition and ask:

  • How can the Overcoming MS Program support people with PMS?
  • Does the Overcoming MS Program work for people with PMS, as well as those with a Relapsing Remitting MS (RRMS) diagnosis?

We each discuss our own experiences of ‘overcoming’ MS and we invite webinar participants to send their questions and comments.

This session has already taken place. You can now watch a recording of the session, download the slides and a handout to go with the presentation.
