Women's Health and Living Well with MS

Women are 2-3 times more likely than men to be diagnosed with MS. The reasons for this disparity are not clear, although there are a number of possibilities, including genetic factors and hormones.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and the menopause:
We also know that women’s experiences of living with MS are different from men’s: from the effects of MS on pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause, to broader questions about medical attitudes to women’s experience of illness and pain.

OMS Diet: A Practical Guide

Join Gillian and Ashley as they guide you through some practical steps that you can take away and help incorporate the principles of the OMS diet into your every-day life.

By the end of the session we hope you will:

• Understand how to simplify meal planning and have a list of at-home practices you can rely on to reduce meal preparation time.

• Understand how to follow the OMS dietary recommendations on a budget, and have a list of ingredients which are useful to keep in the store cupboard.

• Feel confident about which foods to eat and which foods to avoid when following the OMS dietary recommendations.

• Feel confident about what meals you can make at home or buy premade to easily incorporate plant-based protein.

• Know where to find information on the science behind the OMS dietary recommendations.

This webinar asks what is Progressive MS (PMS) and explores some of the uniqueness of PMS as well as the differences between PMS and RRMS.

As two people living with PMS, we explore the specific challenges of living well with a progressive condition and ask:

 

  • How can the Overcoming MS Program support people with PMS?
  • Does the Overcoming MS Program work for people with PMS, as well as those with a Relapsing Remitting MS (RRMS) diagnosis?

We each discuss our own experiences of ‘overcoming’ MS and we invite webinar participants to send their questions and comments.
