Overcoming MS is celebrating after being awarded almost £20,000 in National Lottery funding to support our work with healthcare professionals.
Overcoming MS Chief Executive, Alexandra Holden, said: “When someone is diagnosed with MS, it can be incredibly frightening, incredibly isolating. Overcoming MS is here to give hope, with information, advice and a supportive community.
“By working closely with healthcare professionals, we can not only give more people with MS that sense of hope, earlier in their diagnosis, but also support overworked and under-resourced healthcare professionals through access to information materials, the latest research, and a private peer-support network.”
The National Lottery funding will support a new engagement programme with healthcare professionals, attendance at conferences and events, as well as contributing to our new Healthcare Professional Engagement Lead role.
Dr Jonathan White, Medical Advisor for Overcoming MS, said “I know through my own experience of an MS diagnosis just how important that relationship with healthcare professionals is. And as a healthcare professional, I also see how hard it can be to keep up to date and know all the services available to support my patients. This funding is wonderful news that will strengthen an essential part of our work.”
National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. Thanks to them, last year The National Lottery Community Fund was able to distribute over half a billion pounds (£615.4 million) of life-changing funding to communities.
