Dowshan Humzah has decided to move on from his position as Chair of the Board of Trustees, having now completed his three year term in the role.
Dowshan said; “After three great years in the role, overseeing significant change in the Overcoming MS organisation across its leadership, board composition and proposition, I made the decision not to stand for another term as Chair at Overcoming MS.
Over the past three years I have seen the impact of Overcoming MS grow, especially as lifestyle becomes so important to healthcare systems the world over. Overcoming MS is in a strong position to move forward, alongside existing clinical good practice and recommended medication. Lifestyle interventions, such as the Overcoming MS Program, are widely used for other conditions such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. The same needs to happen faster for multiple sclerosis.
The team has been able to deliver on a full range of digital and in-person activities to meet the community where they are at and support them along their journey of changing their life for life. I thank the community, staff team, Board colleagues and other volunteers for their partnership, passion and dedication.”
Linda Boom, President of Overcoming MS, said: “I’m very grateful to Dowshan for his leadership as Chair over the past three years. His commitment and hard work leave us in a strong position for the future.
Dowshan’s focus on recruiting high calibre individuals to our Board means we have a strong, passionate and skilled group of individuals to support our vision of enabling a world in which living a full and healthy life with MS is possible for all.”
A successor for the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees will be announced in due course. With plans already set for 2025, the team and the Board are well prepared to continue to make a difference to the lives of people with MS.
