Basic Smoothie

Create your smoothie to your taste with this basic foundation of a smoothie by Rachel Detroit from her Overcoming MS 10th anniversary cookbook.

Ingredients List


Serves 1
  • 1 frozen banana
  • (slice the banana small to make blending easier before freezing)
  • ½-1 cup frozen fruit of choice
  • 1 cup greens (spinach, kale, sprouts etc.)
  • ½-1 cup non-dairy milk
  • 2-3 ice cubes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp flaxseed meal


Combine everything in a blender and blend!


  • Add your flax oil here.
  • For a chocolate smoothie, use 2 tbsp cacao powder & strawberries for a strawberry chocolate smoothie.
  • For a tropical smoothie, use ½ cup orange juice & ½ cup water & mangos and pineapple.
