Living Well Live! Why it matters

Overcoming MS CEO Alex Holden outlines her vision for the day, and why you should come.

You will have seen that tickets for Living Well Live, are on sale now, but you might be wondering why you should be there, and what it is all about.

At the start of the year, we knew that we wanted an event that would bring our community together. But we wanted to get it right. If you’ve already taken part in a Discover Overcoming MS session, attended a Pathways course or come to a Retreat, you might ask: what will this event give me that I haven’t learned already? And if you’re newly diagnosed, new to the benefits of lifestyle changes or new to Overcoming MS, you might be wondering: how will this event help me understand where to get started?

Living Well Live is the latest in our Living Well series – so if you’ve listened to our podcast or attended one of our webinars, you’ll already know our style. We aim to be warm and welcoming, but also informative and inspiring. Living Well Live is more of the same style, but in a new format, giving you the opportunity to spend time with others and learn, in that unique Overcoming MS way.

What’s worth getting excited about?

You won’t get this content elsewhere. This isn’t just about learning about the Overcoming MS Program, it is about digging deeper and bringing living well with MS to life. The areas that I’m particularly excited about are – well, actually all of it! But in particular…

  • Our new speakers: From our inspiring speaker kicking off the day (they’ll be announced nearer the time, but believe me, it’ll be worth the wait); to Dr Neil Stanley, independent sleep expert, explaining why sleep is important and how we can get more of it. And Rabiah Coon who, as a comedian, has a unique take on what it is like living with MS.
  • The Hot Topics panel, covering the things we’re all wanting to know the latest on, like smouldering MS and intermittent fasting. These are the topics we always get asked about on Retreats and courses, areas where we’re all taking an interest and the evidence is growing and evolving.
  • The ‘choose your own agenda’ element. We want this day to work for you, so have deliberately organised that you can join us in person or online, or watch the recordings at a time that works for you. Some of the sessions are for everyone, some are in smaller groups. Some are more slide and research heavy, some are more practical and relaxed. Even our Connection sessions are designed so that you can socialise and build new networks if you wish, or safely hide with the Overcoming MS team and a cup of tea if networking makes you nervous!

What makes it special?

Since joining Overcoming MS as Chief Executive, my hands-down, favourite moments have been those where our community comes together. Attending Retreats, our Pop-Up tour and fundraising events have been absolute highlights. For me, this is the biggest power of Overcoming MS – the Program underpins everything we do, but it is you as a community that brings everything together. The mutual support in good times and and hard ones, the ideas and recommendations, that feeling that no one is alone.

Living Well Live is deliberately aimed to do more of this – and we’ll make sure you have a fantastic experience, whether you join online or in person. And if you can’t make the date or the time zone doesn’t work for you, then I would encourage you to buy an online ticket and access the recordings so you won’t miss out!

Get your ticket now!

Thanks to a very generous donor, we’ve been able to offer tickets at a fraction of the cost of producing the event. Even if you miss the early bird and go for a full price ticket, it is still at a significant discount. So I’d really encourage you to grab your ticket now.

If you’re joining us in person, please do come and introduce yourself to the team and have a chat, we can’t wait to meet those of you who we don’t know already!
